Important information about Zopiclone
Zopiclone is a sleeping pill prescribed by doctors for insomnia.
When to use:
- Pain, unpleasant events, noise and worries can sometimes make it difficult to fall asleep. Zopiclone reduces the tension that arises and makes you drowsy. This helps you fall asleep and sleep better.
- Within an hour of taking it, you will feel sleepy and calm. Therefore, make sure you are at home, do not have to do any complicated chores and can easily reach your bed. The effect lasts for six to eight hours.
- Take this medicine just before going to bed and not earlier, because the effect occurs within half an hour.
How long to use:
- If you use this medicine occasionally, it can help you sleep.
- If you use it almost every night, the effect will decrease after a few weeks. Therefore, only use it in special situations.
- Long-term use of more than a week can lead to ‘withdrawal insomnia’. Your body becomes accustomed to the effect of zopiclone to fall asleep. Therefore, only use it occasionally and not for more than two weeks at a time.
Can I just stop doing this?
- If you have only been taking this medicine for a few days in a row, you can stop taking it suddenly without any withdrawal symptoms.
- However, if you have been taking this medicine for several days in a row and you suddenly stop taking it, there is a chance of ‘withdrawal insomnia’. Your body becomes accustomed to the effect of zopiclone to fall asleep. These withdrawal symptoms can last for one or two nights. Therefore, it is important to only use this medicine occasionally and never for more than a few days in a row.
